Chad Edwards “Wyoming Roads” CD Release Event

3 course Dinner & Show.  Menu TBA

$65per person ++

You may recognize Chad Edwards from his attendance at many of our jazz concerts at Bacchus.  But you probably don't know that he's an elite-level jazz artist in his own right! All this, AND he's an engineer at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

LA Times decribed Chad's music as: “small-group jazz at its finest, relaxed yet cooking”.  Sounds like a good pairing with whatever Chef Claud will be cooking up.

Come celebrate a neighborhood artist at your favorite neighborhood restaurant!

DOORS AT 6PM

Chad Edwards - Piano

Rob Kyle - Sax & Flute

Hussain Jiffry - Bass

Kevin Winard - Drums & Percussion

Bios:

Pursuing parallel paths, pianist Chad Edwards (www.chadedwardsmusic.com) has been active in the LA area jazz scene for four decades while also exploring the solar system at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. His first solo album “Resolution” was described by the LA Times as “small-group jazz at its finest, relaxed yet cooking”.  He played with guitarist Stanley Jordan while both were attending Princeton University, and then co-founded and toured with the fusion band Slow Burn after moving to LA. He subsequently recorded with the smooth-jazz band Present Tense and the retro-jazz quintet Zen Dadio. More recently he has performed and recorded seven albums with the San Gabriel Seven jazz-funk band, joined by a series of guest artists including Manhattan Transfer alumna Katie Campbell, Danish vocalist Since Eeg, and most recently nine-time Grammy nominee Tierney Sutton. Meanwhile, in his “NASA day gig”, he has worked on communicating with and navigating spacecraft across the solar system, and on planning future mission concepts for exploring the Red Planet - Mars.

Saxophonist/Flutist/Composer Robert Kyle (www.robertkyle.com) has become known for his unique warm sound, melodic style, and ability to harmoniously cross musical borders. His lyricism and passion are evident across a wide range of musical  styles. His performance & recording credits include work with Natalie Cole, Michael McDonald, Chaka Khan,  Michael Bolton, Linda Ronstadt, Carole King, Kenny Loggins, Lou Rawls, Pete Escovedo, Betty Bryant, Billy Mitchell, and many others. Rob has released twelve CD’s on his own “Dark Delishious Music” label, including his most recent album, “Tuesday’s Child”, a collaboration with his wife, pianist/vocalist Alyse Korn.

Bassist Hussain Jiffry (www.hussainjiffry.com) arrived in California in 1988 from his native land of Sri Lanka, and after graduating with highest honors from LA’s Musicians Institute, his “in-the-pocket” feel and versatility have kept him busy ever since. His infectious groove and musical presence inspire both the musicians around him and the audiences he performs for.  He has performed and toured with a wide range of artists, including Sergio Mendes, Herb Albert, the Dave Weckl Band, Yanni, Tom Scott, Michael Bolton, Robben Ford, Steve Winwood, Whitney Houston, and many others.  Also an accomplished sound engineer, he received a 2014 Grammy Award for his work on Herb Albert’s “Steppin’ Out” album. He currently also serves as the Artistic Director for the prestigious “Vibrato” jazz club in Los Angeles.

Drummer and percussionist Kevin Winard (www.kevinwinard.com) recorded his first album at the age of 17 with the highly acclaimed LA-based Matt Catingub Big Band, featuring the legendary jazz singer Mavis Rivers. Soon thereafter he was touring the country with the pop duo The Captain & Tennille, and working with singers Paul Anka, Vic Damone, and Jack Jones. He toured extensively with Sergio Mendes and Doc Severinsen, and over the years has performed and/or recorded with a wide range of artists, including Diane Schuur, Tom Scott, Les Brown, Bob Hope, Carol Burnett, Rosemary Clooney, and Roger Williams. For nearly two decades he has has been touring and recording with singer Steve Tyrell.
